Biography
Dr. Jeff Chen MD/MBA is the Director of the UCLA Cannabis Research Initiative, one of the first university programs in the world dedicated to the study of cannabis. Dr. Chen established the Initiative in 2017, which has grown to encompass dozens of UCLA faculty working on cannabis related research, education, patient care, and policy projects. Dr. Chen has spoken on the topic of cannabis at venues ranging from the RAND Corporation and Senator Feinstein’s Office to the Yale School of Management and the Royal Palace of the Kingdom of Bhutan. His work has been covered by outlets ranging from Rolling Stone and TIME, to Forbes and the Wall Street Journal.
Dr. Chen is a David Geffen Fellow, UCLA Anderson Fellow, UCLA Wolfen Entrepreneurship Award Recipient, U.S. patent holder, and a World Economic Forum “GlobalShaper”. Dr. Chen is a graduate of the specialized MD/MBA program at UCLA, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University where he studied Biology, Business, and Music.
